The development and application of reliable and low cost testing procedure for verification of cultivar identity and homogeneity is crucial for the large-scale production of certified grape planting material. In order to evaluate the sensitivity of microsatellite analysis of bulk probes from grape plants, a model system consisting of mixtures of leaf samples from two cultivars in different weight ratios was study. The obtained results demonstrated than microsatellite analysis could be efficiently applied for analysis of cultivar identity and homogeneity of bulk leaf probes from 20-25 grape plants. The possibilities for practical application of the microsatellite analysis for screening of nurseries and butches of cuttings is discussed.
